Sangeet Kaur Khalsa

A longtime student of the Siri Singh Sahib, Sangeet teaches, composes, and records sacred music (shabds) drawn from the poetry and technology of the Siri Guru Granth Sahib (the holy scriptures of the Sikhs).  This technology of Gurbani Kirtan is designed to open the heart and expand the consciousness, and is the foundation of the study of Sound and Mantra.  Sangeet is devoted to helping students experience their own voices as vehicles for self-healing and healing others through mantra and Gurbani Kirtan.  Teaching and mentorship has taken many forms over the years:  helping someone with no background in Kundalini Yoga or Sikh Dharma to experience her true voice through mantra; helping young musicians develop and expand their repertoire of shabds (e.g. Anand Sahib, Swayas of Guru Ram Das, the Aartee of the Bhog, and shabds that the Siri Singh Sahib loved to hear); coaching in Gurmukhi pronunciation, voice quality and musicianship; sharing Siri Singh Sahib’s teachings on group Sadhana, in particular the deeper meaning and intention of the Aquarian Sadhana mantras.

Under the decades-long guidance of the Siri Singh Sahib, Sangeet developed a large repertoire of shabds.  She is now producing a series of instructional videos so that students can learn to sing these shabds and accompany themselves on harmonium.  She also offers coaching in voice production and Gurbani Kirtan via internet video (Skype).
